◆ Mt. Kasenzan in Tamayu-cho, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, has been mined since ancient times for Jasper (Izumo Stone) used as the material for Magatama. However, due to current mining restrictions, the circulation of Izumo Jasper has become extremely rare.
◆ The Izumo region appears in Japan's oldest chronicles, the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. It is said that the Yasakani no Magatama, one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan, is made of Izumo Jasper. Despite its existence within the Imperial Family, it is a sacred relic that no one has ever been permitted to see, leaving no visual records. The character for 'ni' in its name is believed to mean 'red,' leading to theories that it might be carved from red jasper. In Nara, the legendary center of the ancient Yamato kingship, numerous Izumo Jasper artifacts have been excavated from Kofun-era tombs. While Japan has several jasper deposits, the exceptional quality of Izumo Jasper made it a prized symbol of power and authority since antiquity.
◆ This stone embodies a profound divine love that pours down like rain, soaking in and permeating the entire body. It serves as a reminder that when one is truly humble and honest, they are always embraced by the divine, offering a sense of forgiveness and teaching the reality of divine compassion.
